Located centrally in the western suburbs we have been servicing the music scene in Adelaide for over 30 years, and specialise in the repair, modification and restoration (all aspects) of guitar amps, especially vintage tube amps requiring unique components and specific attention to detail.
With a fully equipped workshop we can do most other music equipment repairs and modifications including guitar pedals – call us to discuss your needs.
As guitar players we can also provide guitar setups for electric guitars and basses, as well as repairs and replacements of electrical, and other components.

BASIC AMP REPAIR FEE RATES
Hourly rate of $90
Amplifier Diagnostic charge of $80 – We require an up-front (non-refundable) fee of $80 for repair quotes. NB. If the customer agrees to go ahead, this fee will be deducted from the repair total.
GUITAR VALVE/TUBE AMP REPAIRS
General Amplifier Servicing/Repairs
Your amp may have annoying crackly pots which can usually be cleaned, but in some cases need to be replaced. Footswitch problems are usually faulty switches, internal wiring or leads and connectors. These can be either serviced or replaced.
Blown power or effects indicator lights that don’t work.
Front or rear panel switches either serviced or replaced.
These are probably the most common problems that occur, but we can repair other faults.
Amp Modifications
Modifications to amplifiers for tone (brightness, etc.), extra gain and other changes or enhancements.
Re-bias Valves/Tubes
Tube biasing can change over a period of time because of tube and other component wear. To regain optimum performance and sound we can re-bias the tubes.
As the tubes get older they will deteriorate and may need to be replaced with a matched set and re-biased.
Re-Cap
Older amplifiers may need to have the capacitors replaced. Capacitors are the items which deteriorate the most in an amplifier especially the high voltage ones. Faulty capacitors can potentially explode, so attention to these is necessary.
SPEAKER BOX REPAIRS
Speaker replacement
Speakers can go faulty (normally open) and may need replacing. We can source replacements of any brand and will suggest an identical or similar replacement speaker. NB. Some speakers for older amplifiers are not manufactured anymore, so a substitute with similar specifications and sonic qualities can be suggested.
Speaker wiring
Your speaker box may need to be rewired for different speakers or a change in impedance.
Speaker cabinet repairs
We can repair most speaker cabinets, whether the fault be in the timberwork or covering (usually tolex).
AMP RESTORATIONS
We have extensive experience in all aspects of amp restoration – when restoring a vintage amplifier care must be taken when replacing components to ensure that they are kept as close to the original, where possible. Of course some components and brands are no longer available, and we will liaise with customers regarding this.
–Repair or replace amp electrics including resistors, valve sockets, switches, tag strips, wiring, indicator lights, etc.
–We can repair amplifier cabinets which usually is a combination of timberwork, amp covering and sometimes the manufacture of missing amp cabinet components.
–Replacement of old capacitors (normally high voltage ones). This is essential in restorations as old capacitors can explode and are not as effective (capacity and hum) as new ones.
–Valves are checked for wear/effectiveness and replaced with new ones and re-biased to manufacturers’ specifications and customer preferences
–Outer coverings of vintage amp cabinets can often become tatty over the tears. Some customers like the road worn look where others like them looking like new. We can recover or repair the covering, usually Tolex, to customer preferences.

Electric Guitar Setups This will vary depending on the checks and what’s required and may include fret polish, fretboard clean and oil, truss rod adjustment, string action, intonation, restring, cleaning of electronics and pickup height adjustment – $120
Electric Bass Guitar Setups This will vary depending on the checks and what’s required and may include fret polish, fretboard clean and oil, truss rod adjustment, string action, intonation, restring, cleaning of electronics and pickup height adjustment – $120
Guitar/Bass Electrics Typical issue are normally earthing and hum problems, crackly volume and tone controls, rewiring of the electronics, modifications for tone, treble bleed, coil splits, etc.,. – Quote needed
Pickup replacement or upgrade – Single $80 Double $120

ACOUSTIC PREAMP INSTALLATION
Install Acoustic Guitar Preamp Typical installation is to mark and cut out hole for main unit, drill or cut out hole for output jack/plate, install preamp unit with wiring and test – $120
